Spring Intern Availability:
Start date will be January 8th, 2025
End date will be May 3rd, 2025
Intern will be expected to work roughly 15 hours weekly.
Newsroom Intern
Are you passionate about journalism and eager to gain real-world experience in a fast-paced newsroom? Join our team as a Newsroom Intern and develop hands-on skills that are essential to the world of broadcast media. You’ll work alongside experienced journalists, diving into story research, interviews, production, and more. This role offers an incredible opportunity to build your portfolio and strengthen your reporting, writing, and on-air production abilities.
Responsibilities:

Research and write compelling, informative news stories.

Interview community members on local events and incidents to develop engaging stories.

Record and produce news segments in 15-30-second spots.

Assist on-air talent with story development and broadcast preparation.

Track and investigate leads to help expand coverage.

Contribute to additional tasks that support the newsroom and overall operations.
Qualifications:

Strong interest in both local and global news and storytelling.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Attention to detail, time management, and strong organizational skills.

Ability to think creatively and analytically and exhibit sound journalistic judgment.

Must be 18+ years old and enrolled at the University of West Florida and able to enroll in COM4940 Internship in Communications.

Business Operations Intern
Our Business Operations Internship offers a unique blend of sales support, client engagement, and administrative experience, perfect for those eager to develop hands-on skills in a dynamic environment. You’ll work closely with our account executives, assist in client outreach, and support office functions that keep our team running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone ready to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities:

Prospect potential clients and set up appointments for Account Executives.

Input insertion orders and maintain client records.

Create digital spec ads and commercial scripts for prospective clients.

Write and send thank-you notes following client meetings.

Work promotional events and assist with client relations.

Manage front desk tasks, including answering calls and greeting visitors.
