Air Force Contractor Cleaning Up Following F-16 Fuel Tank Detachment

Niceville, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- We're now seeing reports that cleanup efforts are underway in Niceville after an F-16 lost a fuel tank, which landed in a resident's yard earlier this week. That happened shortly after the fighter jet took off from Eglin Air Force Base on Wednesday. Resident Greg Lowe tells our news partners at Channel 3 that an Air Force contractor plans to remove 18-inches of dirt from his entire yard to remove hazardous waste from the fuel tank. The fuel tank was believed to have 300 gallons of jet fuel inside when it fell from the F-16. The Air Force is still investigating how it happened.
