Citizens Policies Count Up for Last Week, Still Down from Last Month

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Citizens Property Insurance had a slight increase in policies last week -- hitting 851,210, but that's down from over 945,000 just a month ago. This drop happened as private insurers started taking on some of those policies through a program aimed at reducing Citizens' size, which state leaders want to control due to hurricane-related financial risks. Another round of policy transfers is expected later this month as the private insurance market stabilizes.
