Former Rep. Matt Gaetz Says He's "Thinking" About a Run for Governor Next Year

Pensacola FL (NewsRadio 92-3) Former Congressman turned cable TV host Matt Gaetz may not be done with politics just yet. The Tampa Bay Times reports Gaetz is "starting to think about running for governor" in 2026. The House Ethics Committee recently voted to release a report that found "substantial evidence" that Gaetz used illegal drugs, paid women for sex, and had sex with a 17-year-old girl during his time in Congress. But Gaetz says "those lies" have been circulating for years, and "never affected my ability to win elections." Florida Democratic Party chair Nikki Fried has called Gaetz a "chaos agent who cares about nothing but his own personal power".
