FWC HAS BEGUN ITS BLUE CRAB TRAP CLOSURE

010825 (FWC) FWC has begun its blue crab trap closure. The closure gives groups time to identify and retrieve lost and abandoned blue crab traps from the water. The closure area runs from Panama City, west to the Alabama state line. The blue crab trap closure initially began in 2009 after commercial crabbers and harvesters noticed a pollution problem due to the traps. Blue crab traps may be placed back in the water starting January 15, 2025.
