Heavy Rains Cause Water Issues on Escambia County Roads Around Walnut Hill

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Escambia County says a portion of County Road 97A has collapsed...

"We had a road washout, where due to the excess water that accumulated on the roadway, it got underneath the roadway and washed out the dirt...which then caused the road to fall down where that dirt was," Escambia County PIO Davis Wood explains.

He says the road is closed north of Arthur Brown, he says the workaround would be Highway 97 in Walnut Hill north, and then you can take Pelt Road back to Pine Forest.

Other flooding issues have been reported in that area along Brushy Creek Road at Arthur Brown, OC Phillips, and Pineville roads. Wood says if you come across water over any roadway, you should turn around and not attempt to drive through it.
