Man Charged in Teen Innertube Accident Pleading No Contest

MAN CHARGED IN TEEN INNERTUBE ACCIDENT PLEADS NO CONTEST -- David Wayne

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- The man who was charged after a teen died during an innertube accident in 2022 has now pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter. 22-year-old Joseph Squirewell entered his plea earlier this week. Investigators say he was driving a truck that was pulling an innertube on the small pond at Community Maritime Park. 18-year-old Christian Garner was on the tube when police say Squirewell drove "too far and too fast" and threw Garner from the tube into a parking lot, where he died. Squirewell faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for April 16th.
