Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- An Escambia County man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a cold-case murder from 1998 yesterday. 45-year-old Donald Holmes II was found guilty of manslaughter with a firearm. He had initially been charged with murder for the death of cab driver Steven Davis in a westside Winn Dixie parking lot. Investigators say new forensic evidence enabled them to identify holmes as a suspect years after the crime. Holmes was already in a Florida prison on a home invasion charge from 2012, his two sentences will now run concurrently.
