121624 (WEAR) Some military service members will see an increase in their housing allowance next year. The Department of Defense says the increase will average around 5% when the new rates take effect on New Year's Day. The UWF Haas Center reports more than 34,500 service members call Northwest Florida home. What each service member receives per month depends on their rank and where they live.
