New Commander Takes Over NAS Pensacola

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- We now have the first female skipper in the history of NAS Pensacola. Captain Chandra 'Mamasan' Newman will be is taking command of the installation today. A change of command ceremony was held at the National Naval Aviation Museum. Newman is a Florida native and received her wings in August of 2004 -- she previously served with helicopter sea combat squadrons and as the commander of Naval Air forces Leadership, Education, Growth, Advocacy, Culture, and Youth Outreach director. Outgoing commander Captain Terry 'Village' Shashaty will retire after 26-years in the Navy.
