PPD: NO CHARGES FOR FATAL ACCIDENT AT HITZMAN PARK -- David Wayne

Penacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Earlier this week a young girl was tragically killed in an accident at Hitzman Park. Pensacola Police say the girl was hit by a car driven by a family member. Spokesman Mike Wood says no charges will be filed in the case, he offers this advice for anyone transporting kids:

"If you have kids in the car, if there's one, or there's three... make sure everybody is accounted for; make sure everybody is seatbelted in or in a proper car seat," Wood says it's easy to get distracted, but you've got make sure everyone is in a safe place before you move the vehicle.

Wood says there was no alcohol or drugs involved in the accident on Tuesday, he says it was just a tragic accident.

The Escambia School District did confirm that the girl was a student at Scenic Heights Elementary School. The city of Pensacola has confirmed that all organized activities at the park are being canceled for the rest of the week.
