PENSACOLA FIREFIGHTERS TO GET 21% PAY BUMP OVER THREE YEARS -- David Wayne
Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- There's been a lot of talk about pay raises for Pensacola city employees lately... This week the city reached a deal with the firefighters union, which will mean a substantial pay increase over the next few years.
The deal was reached yesterday between the City of Pensacola and the International Association of Firefighters union.
Firefighters will be getting a 12 percent increase the first year, a 7 percent the second year, and 2 percent the third year for a total of 21 percent over three years. Currently, firefighters in the city are making around $16 per hour based on a 56-hour work week. The city is still looking into city-wide pay increases for employees and will soon be voting on establishing new pay ranges. They anticipate most employees could see an increase of around 6.8 percent.
