PENSACOLA INTERNATIONAL'S PASSENGER COUNT SOARS

120524 (WEAR) Passenger count numbers continue to grow annually at Pensacola International. More than 3 million travelers came through the airport this past fiscal year. On Wednesday, airport officials unveiled new renovation plans, the first since 2008. It cost $90 million to get it done. Airport Executive Director Matt Coughlin says the project has two main elements. The first is expanding TSA, making those wait times shorter, the second, a brand new concourse, adding five gates to the airport. The goal is to increase capacity at the airport by 50%-three million passengers over the last year, which would turn into 4.5 million.
