QUIET SCHOOL BOARD MEETING IN ATMORE -- David Wayne
Escambia County, AL (Newsradio 92.3) -- The first Escambia County, Alabama school board meeting after the arrest of board member Sherry Digmon was quiet. Channel 3 reports that there were no public speakers or mention of Digmon's recent arrest on ethics violations of using an office for personal gain. WEAR talked with the School District Attorney -- who said he plans to have Digmon removed from the school board. The controversy began after Digmon -- also the publisher of the Atmore News, published secrets from a grand jury investigation regarding COVID money paid out to school system employees. Shortly after Digmon was arrested on two ethics violation charges. She's accused of using her position as a school board member to purchase advertising in her Newspaper.
