Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Five school districts and nearly 200 schools across the state are being recognized for supporting military families. Governor DeSantis announced that five school districts -- including Santa Rosa and Okaloosa Counties, have earned the Purple Star School District of Distinction award. Other districts designated are Bay, Brevard, and Citrus counties.
176 individual schools across the state also earned the Purple Star School of Distinction Award.
Eight schools in Escambia County earned the designation for 2024 through 2027 -- including Pensacola High School, Beulah and Ransom Middle Schools, Ferry Pass, Kingsfield, and Navy Point elementary schools, Redeemer Lutheran Schools, and George Stone Technical College.
Since it was established three years ago, almost 400 schools across the state have earned the Purple Star School designation. DeSantis says every school is encouraged to better serve military families and earn the designation.
