Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Six men are headed to prison on racketeering charges related to a fraud scheme back in 2020. The state attorneys office says 23-year-old Elijah Simmons, 22-year-old Antonio Slocum Jr., 29-year-old Ramon Borner, 23-year-old David Cattell, 23-year-old Michael Hunter, and 22-year-old Tajiri Barnes were all sentenced earlier this month. Prosecutors say the men were stealing identities and applying for fraudulent CARES ACT loans, then deposited those checks at local banks. 40 victims lost more than $251-thousand dollars. Officials say fifteen other people were prosecuted for their roles in the scheme.
