State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden is confirming that her office will review allegations brought against Escambia County Commissioner Jeff Bergosh regarding text messages that were sent in 2021. In an emailed statement, Madden says the office has received "several inquiries, concerns, and allegations" that communications between some commissioners may have been improper. Madden says they will be reviewing all available government communications to determine if further investigation is warranted. Bergosh sent messages to David Bear, instructing him to share redistricting plans with fellow commissioners Lumon May and Steven Barry, along with saying "Don't tell me what he says lol".
