STATE BILL FILED TO ALLOW DEADLY FORCE AGAINST BEAR ATTACKS

A new bill working its way through the state legislature could make it legal to use deadly force to defend yourself -- against a bear. House Bill 87 would justify using lethal force in cases where you feel that you or your property are in danger of a bear attack. Under current law killing a bear in the state carries a penalty of a year in jail or a $1-thousand dollar fine. If attacked currently, the FWC recommends people to "fight back aggressively."
