Three Names to Strike from List of Possible District 1 House Candidates

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- As the panhandle continues wandering who will replace Matt Gaetz in the US House, we can cross a few names off the list of potential candidates. State representative Alex Andrade told Newsradio 92.3 that he wasn't interested in the job, Pensacola mayor DC Reeves released a statement saying he is focused on his job as mayor and that his heart remains in Pensacola. Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons also said he is committed to the citizens of Escambia County and says his responsibilities as Sheriff are his priority. So far some of the names mentioned include former Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward, former state senator Doug Broxson, Okaloosa County Superintendent Mark Chambers, state representative Michele Salzman, and various others. It's expected that there will be a Republican primary. On the Democrat side Gay Valimont is expected to resume her campaign for the seat.
