TREE-CYCLING LOCATIONS OPEN IN SANTA ROSA COUNTY

Now that we're past Christmas, some folks may be ready to take down the tree. Santa Rosa County has opened several locations for residents to drop their trees off, if they want to "treecycle." Those locations include the Jay Transfer Station, Central Landfill, Pace Fire Rescue on Pace Boulevard, The Navarre Beach Boat Ramp parking lot on Gulf Boulevard, and the Tiger Point Recreation Area. If you plan to drop off your Christmas tree, you should make sure that there are no tinsel, lights, or ornaments on it. You can drop your tree off at those locations through January 14th. Officials say you should never burn your Christmas tree in a wood stove or fireplace, as Pines, firs, and evergreens have a high content of flammable oils, and could cause a chimney fire.
