The University of West Florida has been awarded a grant that will go towards supporting students who are also parents. Their Educational Research Center for Child Development received a four-year, $1.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The funds will assist Pell-eligible and Pell-recipient student-parents with the costs of childcare. ERCCD parents will get anywhere from 50 to 90 percent off childcare fees, depending on several factors including the number of classes enrolled in, how many children are enrolled at the center, and whether they are the single head of the household.
